The Rural Cost Share program assists land owners in making a positive difference on their land. This program was developed for cooperators who don't quite meet qualifying criteria for federal or state programs (not big enough acreage, or not a full-time operation, etc.). Eligible projects may be implemented on private land as well as adjacent public lands with grazing rights.Examples of possible projects include: Solar stock water pumps to improve livestock distribution in remote areas, spring developments to enhance wildlife and/or improve livestock distribution, and fencing for implementing rotational grazing systems on small acreage pastures. This matching program has a maximum match amount of $5000 on a $10,000 project, and a total annual budget of $25,000. |
In 2006-2007 our Cost Share Programs were a great success. The Regular Cost Share Program met costs, assisted with planning and the implementation of 17 different projects, from planting Living Snow Fences to grass removal for xeriscaping and community beautification, as well as funding environmental educations. This fiscal year we paid out more than $16,000 towards these projects. |
