Text Box: New faces at LRCD...

The LRCD welcomed three new board supervisors Michele Barlow, Nancy Bath, and Jim Rogers.

Michele Barlow was appointed by the Wyoming Board of Agriculture to replace Joe Meyer (who moved to Colorado) as LRCD’s Urban Supervisor.  Michele is a Wyoming native and grew up on a cattle ranch in Campbell County, and has a education background in ecology.  She is quite familiar with many of the environmental agricultural, and open space issues that are the focus of this conservation district; in addition her work on alternative energy education compliments this new area of outreach for LRCD.

Nancy Bath was elected in the general elections in November, and replaces Dave Whitman as one of our Rural Supervisors.  She is a Tie Siding native and a life-long rancher and conservationist.

Jim Rogers was recommended by LRCD’s Board of Supervisors to Wyoming Board of Agriculture  to replace Carl Shaffer, who resigned.   Mr. Rogers is highly qualified to be a conservation district supervisor.  He has been a rancher all his life and has ranched in Albany County for the past eleven years as the owner/operator of Brown’s Creek Angus.  He has been highly active at the local and state level for the Wyoming Stock Grower’s association, and the Wyoming Beef Council. He has served two terms as an Albany County Planning Commissioner, so he has an exceptional understanding of development and growth in the county.

All three of these new Supervisors, has something different to contribute to our district.  We have enjoyed them and their input has been extremely beneficial.

This past year the LRCD Board recognized the enormous workload of our Resource Specialist and District Clerk and decided to create a new position to make the District more effective in serving the Community.  Martin Curry Joined our team as a Resource Specialist and Bookkeeper.  He was born in Laramie and raised on ranches in Albany and Carbon counties.  He is also a veteran of the United States Navy, and recently receives a Bachelor’s degree in Rangeland Ecology and Watershed Management along with minors in Soil Science and Reclamation Restoration Ecology.
