Gradually but surely, our vision for new ways of feeding ourselves and each other is becoming an exciting reality.  A new booth is a weekly fixture at the Farmer's Market this year.  Sharing the Bounty is a collection site for receiving donations of fresh produce (either excess produce from your own garden or purchased items from the farmer's market), which are then passed on to the soup kitchen, the food bank, Head Start when it reopens, and broader public distribution as donations grow.

The first two weeks of the market brought donations of rhubarb from a local garden, and beets, turnips, and free range eggs purchased from the market.  All of these went to the soup kitchen.  Week three brought a dramatic increase in donations  that included radishes, beans, beets, cabbage, peaches and apricots.

We are still working out the process for this major project (it took three weeks to finally purchase a canopy that will hold up to Laramie weather).  Right now, food must be stored over the weekend and delivered on Monday.  We're looking into a more rapid and efficient distribution process.  Other plans in the works:  additional drop-off sites for produce donations on Friday mornings, expanded outreach to inform the community of the program, additional educational activities/handouts from social service nonprofit efforts that can be promoted at the
Sharing the Bounty booth.
