LRCD Annual Tree Sale

Laramie Rivers Conservation District will host their 23rd annual tree sale on April 30 and May 1, 2010, at the Albany County Fairgrounds.

I would like to encourage all those that are interested in our tree sale to place their orders as soon as possible.  Some of the species that we have listed may be in high demand, so the sooner you order the better chance we can fulfill your request.  Orders due by March 31st.

I would also like to remind everybody that this is a good time to purchase tree survival aids such as weed barrier, hydrosource and fertilizer.  We will start taking orders on January 20, 2010, via mail orders and in person at 5015 Stone Rd. Laramie, WY.

There is still time to apply for a cost share on a Living Snow Fence.  The deadline is March 1, 2010.

Mark your calendars!!

The 4th Annual Conservation Expo will be held on February 27th from 9:00 am—3:00 pm at the Albany County Fairgrounds.    This event is free to exhibitors and to the public.  Food will be available for purchase. NRCS offers technical assistance to agricultural producers to improve natural resources on private agland. Through Farm Bill programs such as Environmental Quality Incentives Program, NRCS assist landowners with cost-share practices such as livestock watering systems, fencing, and other practices to improve natural resources on agland.  EQIP applications are accepted on a continuous basis, the 2010 funding cycle ends January 13th.

64th ANNUAL WACD CONVENTION

This year’s convention was held in Cheyenne, WY at the Holiday Inn.  It was a joint convention held with      Wyoming Weed and Pest.  The week was filled with  informative meetings, updates from NRCS, WDA, and legislative representatives.  The convention provided a great opportunity to meet and network with other people from around the state. Laramie Rivers won first place in the state this year, for our “Outstanding Annual Report”,  be sure to check it out online at www.lrcd.net.  Next year’s convention will be held in Worland, WY.
