LaBONTE PARK OUTDOOR LEARNING CENTER The LaBonte Park Learning Center is entering it’s third year of development. The center was designed by students to provide educational and recreational opportunities for students within Albany County School Districts and its residents. |

Wyoming Community Foundation Funds Dock A floating dock is currently being installed at LaBonte Lake. The dock will provide access to students for water quality and ecosystem studies. The floating dock will be assembled by University of Wyoming Lab School students with the help from Island Lake Marina.
Solar Powered Aerator The City of Laramie Parks Department installed a solar powered aerator. The aerator infuses oxygen into the lake to help minimize the growth of algae. Students will be developing and installing signage that will explain the process of how it works.
Kids Garden Club The children's gardening programs continue to be extremely popular. This year we were able to provide two separate programs to accommodate all the interest with help from the Laramie Garden Club members and parents.
The Kids Garden Club was excited to harvest and provide vegetables for the local Soup Kitchen. Later they made pesto and prepared a meal at the Soup Kitchen. Overall the kids learned that even small amounts of help can make a big difference to peoples’ lives within their community.
Weather Station The College of Engineering, Department of Atmospheric Science donated a weather station. Studies included comparing water effects to water cycling in the lake
Tree Tour The South East Wyoming Chapter of American Foresters donated and planted a Lodge Pole Pine tree along the LaBonte Park tree tour. Signage for the trees will be installed. |
