Commercial Wind Energy Development in Wyoming A Guide for Landowners (Second Edition 2011) This publication was developed by the Ruckelshaus Institute. LRCD contributed financially towards this project. The publication is very useful to landowners considering wind development on their private land. It talks about determining wind power capacity, Compatibility with existing Land uses, the Economic Impacts and Options, possible Lifestyle Implications and discusses Legal Counsel and Wind Energy Lease Agreements. |

Members of the LRCD staff and board have involved in the development of the City of Laramie and Albany County Comprehensive Plans The Laramie Comprehensive Plan has been developed over the past 23 months by the dedicated efforts of the Citizen’s Project Advisory Team, citizen and citizen groups, as well as City and Planning Staff. The Comprehensive Plan is a policy document that will serve as a blueprint for the future development of the City. The Laramie Comprehensive Plan was adopted by the Laramie Planning Commission on June 13, 2007 and the Laramie City Council on August 21, 2007. Pursuant to Wyoming State Statutes, the Albany County Planning and Zoning and the Board of County Commissioners “Concurred” with the plan on May 17, 2007 and June 5, 2007, respectively. The Laramie Comprehensive Plan replaces the 1995 Land Use Element.
The Albany County Comprehensive Plan was approve on August 5, 2008, by the County Board. This plan will provide a solid vision for Albany County for years to come. |
Wind Energy - Visual Impacts and Public PerceptionsOn June 17, 2009, the Wind Visual project held “Scenic Considerations and Wind Energy in Wyoming.” This full-day workshop focused on the scenic impacts of rapid wind turbine development that residents in and near Laramie Wyoming are facing. Through presentations, discussions, photographic exercises, interactive polls, and a bus tour of wind turbine sites, participants in the workshop shared their desires for the future of wind development in their community. The workshop was held in partnership with Scenic America, the University of Wyoming Ruckelshaus Institute for Environmental and Natural Resources, and the Conservation Districts in Medicine Bow, Laramie River, and Saratoga-Encampment-Rawlins.
